Coming for the first time in June

Good Morning everyone,
The love of my life and myself are planning our first trip to Roatan around the 3rd week of June and plan to stay for at least 3 weeks. She is a school teacher and I am a engineer who is a dive master. We would love to have any suggestions on Airb&b recommendations or other rental suggestions near a beach where I could easily dive and we would be close to other expats. We are looking for a possible new home. So, if you would be so kind, we have a few questions:

  1. Airb&b or other rental suggenstions close to a beach with expats close
  2. Should the rental have air conditioner (been my experience in the Carrb that a/c = no bugs inside)
  3. Any vaccinations required or suggested
  4. Any suggestions on dive companies or organizations that care for the reefs.
  5. What should we bring for sure and what should we leave at home.
  6. Is anyone interested in meeting us for a drink to share their experience while we are on island.

Thanks so much and we are very excited about this new adventure.

Loop.

Same foot prints, I am an educator married to an engineer. We will not be in Roatan during your visit but will offer what we know.

  1. Airb&b or other rentals - we use https://www.roatanpropertymanagement.com/
  2. Should the rental have air conditioner (been my experience in the Carrb that a/c = no bugs inside) - Yes A/c is wonderful for that reason, but can be expensive. If not A/C then a must have is ceiling fans.
  3. Any vaccinations required or suggested - We did not get anything before coming to Roatan. We often stay 3 months - no issues.
  4. Any suggestions on dive companies or organizations that care for the reefs. - So many options - everyone seems to have their favorite. My son enjoyed https://www.roatan-octopusdiveschool.com/
  5. What should we bring for sure and what should we leave at home. No fancy clothes needed - bring sunscreen (can be expensive here) Bring $20 bills that are new or without folds, pinholes or writing on them for local food and snacks. We use the credit card on most larger items like diving, groceries, and trips.
Hope this helps. The facebook pages on roatan often has great information.

https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/29985728 Cabana

2 minutes walk from famous West Bay beach full of restaurants and bars, divers expats and tour operators. I have neighbor who has dive center. Property provide full privacy and full safety per all criteria. I live close with my family for over year so can give you all details and of course we can meet whenever you want.
Roa is one paradise and there are no need for any kind of preparation to fly here…
