Importing a car from Guatemala

Good day everone,
we are moving in November to Roatan and it is not all that easy, as we are moving from Guatemala. It is a lot of information here available but mostly for people moving from the USA or Canada. We drove in June from Guatemala to Honduras and had no problem to do so with our car - but this was for short term only. How about if we need to import the car permanetly? Or what about if we NOT officially import the car at all, but leave it registered in Guatemala. We would enter Honduras with a tourist visa and apply later for an extension…
The car is a Honda Pilot, about 12 years old…
