I am planning to semi retire in Roatan, but I need high speed internet. Is there any particular area of the Island I can get High Speed service?

Internet Speeds -- 2020 Edition

Looks like the last Internet speeds thread is from 2017-ish… So, I wanted to ask what’s the latest Internet speeds found in Roatan for 2020? Fingers crossed there’s been some improvement, as most parts of LatAm have seen significant Internet upgrades since 2018. I’m coming down to Roatan in March and thinking of staying for a bit, but I work full-time online and need a minimum of 8-10 Mbps download speeds to get the job done (https://www.speedtest.net/). I travel with Google Fi as backup WiFi…

Hello @victoriah310 and thank you for posting on this Forum. You are correct. The infrastructure is already here. Internet speeds are not exactly on par with speeds in the US, but you should absolutely be able to establish a cable connection in Sandy Bay and or in West End.

In Camp Bay, we have fiber optic high speed internet. I have a vacation rental house with fiber optic with MAXCOM there and the speed is quite good.

We also have a development called “Las Vistas at Camp Bay Beach” Each lot will have fiber optic internet, water and electric lines. If you’re looking for a place to have a house, Camp Bay and Camp Bay Beach are quiet and pristine.
