How prelevant is Dengue Fever in the Bay Islands?
I have heard mention of sand flies too, what are they?

Hello @LynnMarie - A Sandfly is colloquial name for a small fly that nests in sand. They are mostly found around sandy and low wind areas. The southern shore of Roatan has the least amount of Sandfly because there is less sandy beaches and there is more wind. They sell repellent on Roatan which keeps them away. The trick is to spray yourself before you feel them bite.

There has been an outbreak of Dengue on the island. It is very important you use Deet-based spray to protect yourself here
